You need to find a motherboard that will fit with the CPU and RAM, the parts are kinda outdated so its gonna be hard for you to find that motherboard...let me research a little and see wich one you gonna need.

Frost i know that's really troublesome but try not to be too frantic and overhasty..., its a PC only and there is going to be a proper solution for sure :)
I can't counsel on that but good luck anyways ! :)

You can run MW3 with such hardware ?

Sorry to hear that..

Getting a mainboard with socket 940 will be hard these days as @Weirdo already mentioned. You will only get second-hand mainboards with that socket, but how can you be sure that it's your mainboard which is not working anymore, and not also your CPU ?

Hmm.. If not highly necessary I wouldn't recommend to buy a second-hand mainboard:
1. You will pay for an old / used mainboard which is made for CPU and RAM which are outdated and weak as fck.
2. No guarantee that it's working properly.
3. Not sure if (also) your CPU has died. (?)

I think it makes more sense to upgrade your pc hardware, if possible..
If you have some money, I would recommend to get a new CPU + Mainboard + RAM. It will be worth it.
Your current CPU is very weak and you won't have much success with it in future anyways..
Your GPU is also not the best and pretty outdated, but I think a CPU is more important at first.

The thing is with a new CPU you maybe should get a new PSU. Depends on what PSU you have atm.
Mostly old CPU's are consuming much power in relation to new faster CPU's. The power consumption might be similar, but new CPU's have a way better performance in relation to power consumption, or are even more efficient.

Do you have some money and are you ready to spend it in new hardware ? If yes, how many money ?

Your PC is pretty old anyways. Try building one from scratch. Not a high end one, at least a low -mid ranged one. I'm sure it wont cost much as you expect :)

You know @Frosty in the future try saving up for a desktop pc and not a laptop..u see with 1000~1200 USD u can get a laptop with cool specs but won't be able to run games at 4k, but if you build a pc with that budget you can afford a gtx 1080 with i7 6700k wich will run almost anything at 4k 60fps.

@Frosty alright, so you still have a laptop besides your pc on which you can play and stuff ?

However, if you want to fix your PC I would recommend to start upgrading hardware.
You don't need a i7 6700k if you can't effort the money, but you can setup a budget for a decent intel i5 cpu+mainboard+ram less than 300 € or with AMD cpu even cheaper..
But yea, money is the thing :)
